Like public schools around the state and across the county, Sparta’s public schools face many fiscal challenges. All too often, budget constraints force school boards to make agonizing choices about what education programs must go instead of what new programs to support.

Many communities are finding real value in the efforts of education foundations to generate additional sources of revenue for educational programs and services that enhance the curriculum and learning environment. To this end, residents in Sparta have established the Sparta Education Foundation, a broad-based, non-profit community organization. Our goals are as follows:

• To encourage community and private sector relationships that serve the interests and needs of the Sparta Public Schools;
   
• To solicit ongoing charitable contributions of equipment and funds to benefit the Sparta Public Schools; and
   
• To initiate fundraising projects and events to benefit various programs and facilities of the Sparta Public Schools; and
   
• To serve as a catalyst for efforts to bring positive attention to the Sparta Public Schools.
