Sparta Education Foundation Hosts A Night With The New Jersey Devils

Posted Tue, Apr 5th, 2016 By Gwen Donovan

The Sparta Education Foundation hosted A Night With the New Jersey Devils on Friday, March 25 as the Devils faced off against the Washington Capitals at The Prudential Center in Newark. A portion of each ticket sold went to support the Sparta Education Foundation.

There were a total of 93 attendees who received a welcome message on the scoreboard, a NJ Devils hat and a group photo on the ice following the game. "It was an awesome time!" said Rocco Biondo. His sister Bella agreed, adding "I loved it, going on the ice was so cool!"

Founded in 2006 and staffed completely by volunteers, the Sparta Education Foundation has donated over $657,300 in grants to Sparta's public schools. Recently-funded grants include a coral reef aquarium project, funding for the Robotics Program and 12 Nikon cameras for Sparta High School; electric instruments, a VariQuest poster maker, BrightLink projectors and document cameras for Sparta Middle School; a Yamaha Clavinova electric piano and document cameras for Mohawk Avenue School; and 25 iPads and document cameras for Alpine School.
